Ingredients
  

For the Patties
  • 1 lb Ground Beef Use an 85/15 blend for best flavor
  • 1 tbsp Mustard Dijon or yellow mustard recommended
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
For the Onions
  • 1 medium Onion Red or yellow, finely sliced
  • 1 tbsp Butter Use olive oil for dairy-free
  • 1 tbsp Red Wine Vinegar Apple cider vinegar is an alternative
For the Sandwich
  • 8 slices Rye Bread Sourdough or French bread can be used
  • 4 slices Muenster Cheese Provolone or mozzarella can be alternatives
  • 4 slices Cheddar Cheese Swiss or American cheese are good swaps
For the Burger Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise Vegan mayo for dairy-free
  • 1 tbsp Dill Pickle Relish Sweet relish can be used instead
  • 1 tbsp Ketchup Omit if you prefer

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Make the Burger Sauce by mixing mayonnaise, mustard, dill pickle relish, and ketchup in a bowl. Refrigerate.
  2. Caramelize the Onions by melting butter in a skillet. Add onions, Worcestershire sauce, and red wine vinegar. Cook for about 20 minutes.
  3. Prepare the Patties by shaping the ground beef into two patties. Season, and rub with mustard.
  4. Cook the Patties in a skillet over medium-high heat for 4 minutes each side.
  5. Assemble the Sandwiches with buttered rye bread, cheese, grilled onions, and patties. Top with more cheese and another slice of bread.
  6. Grill the Sandwiches in the skillet until golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  7. Serve and Enjoy after allowing to cool for a minute and slicing.
